2024/03/12 - Infrastructure maintenance – March 16, 2024, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (ET)
We will be doing infrastructure maintenance which will affect the CHS Tidal Website on Saturday, March 16th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM ET. At that time, you may not have access to the website. We apologize for any inconvenience.

2023/12/08 - Notice of Table 3 Corrections for Atlantic region 'Canadian Tide and Current Tables'
Please note that Atlantic region has applied several corrections to Higher High Water and Lower Low Water time differences for secondary stations in Table 3.

2023/10/05 - Notice of name change
Please take note that the names have changed for the following Canadian Hydrographic Service tidal stations from Volume 7 - Queen Charlotte Sound to Dixon Entrance: 1) Queen Charlotte City (9850) is now Daajing Giids, 2) Port Simpson (9390) is now Lax Kw'alaams.

2023/08/14 - Notice on Stations
We are currently experiencing difficulties displaying water level information at stations from our web address https://www.tides.gc.ca/en/stations. Until these difficulties are resolved, you can access the information using the New water level application optimized for mobile devices.

2022/08/05 - CHS NON-NAvigational (NONNA) Bathymetric Data Update and Release
Client suggested enhancements have been implemented to the CHS NONNA Data Portal including migration to chart datum and enhanced tools for selecting and downloading large geographic areas.

2022/04/21 - Phase 1 of the discontinuation of digital Raster Navigational Charts (RNC) has begun
Following the preliminary notice published in Notices to Mariners (Edition No. 06/2021, June 25, 2021) and following the consultation period, the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) has begun the discontinuation, in progressive phases, of its digital Raster Navigational Charts (RNC) offered in BSB format.

2022/01/05 - CHS Nautical Publications: Free and always up-to-date digital downloads - Printing to be Discontinued
All of the Canadian Hydrographic Service's nautical publications are now available as free digital downloads. Providing free digital nautical publications means easier access to up-to-date information for safer navigation. The Canadian Hydrographic Service will permanently discontinue the printing of all volumes listed below effective March 1st, 2022.

2021/11/18 - The Web Data Services for both observations and predictions are no longer available through the tides.gc.ca website
Effective May 3rd, 2021: The Web Data Services for both observations and predictions are no longer available through this site and are now accessible through a Canadian Hydrographic Service API at: https://api-iwls.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/swagger-ui.html using Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.

2021/07/19 - Moving towards Electronic Navigational Charts for safer navigation
To better align with international standards and best practices, the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) will be phasing out Raster Navigational Charts (RNCs) to offer safer Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) products and services.

2021/05/04 - Web services and Rest-API
As of 12:00 pm EDT on Monday, May 3rd, 2021, the old Canadian Hydrographic Service WDS services (observations and predictions) have been decommissioned. Please refer to the web services page for information on using the new REST-API for direct access to official water level data and other available services.

2020/09/30 - Canadian Tide and Current Tables – Chart 1 – printing to be discontinued
The Canadian Hydrographic Service has just announced printing to be discontinued for the Canadian Tide and Current Tables and Chart #1 in the September monthly edition of the Notices to Mariners referring mariners to the pdf versions available online. This decision is related to the transformation plan being put forward at CHS to better meet digital product needs.
